1988 Carrera horns
The horns in my car haven't worked well for a while. I purchased a set of horns from our host.
The horns are small and came with tiny connectors loose. I looked under the car and the old horns have long tubes/horns. Is there a way to replace the horns without removing the oil cooler? Is there a procedure somewhere here? Thank you for your help RG |

On my 87 you just have to loosen one hex nut (? 13mm) with a long extension and the horns will drop out.
The oil cooler did not need to come out. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

The Carrera horns from our host have connectors that require modifying the wires on the car, at least it would have on my SC and sounds the same for you.
Instead of modifying the wiring, I went with Hella Supertone horns. They are around $30 from most retailers and are directly plug and play with the existing wiring. I did have to make a little bracket as the mounting and shape is different than the original horns. You do not need to remove the oil cooler. |

Gentlemen, Thank you for your replies.
A couple of questions. 1. I see Supertone horns online #003399801, is that the model you got? 2. Can you provide a brief description of how you made a bracket? Was it long rectangular with 3 holes? The center hole to match the bolt in the car, the outer holes to hold the new horns? I appreciate the help. Thank you Raulg |

Super tone horns
I just mounted mine on a. Simple bracket sideways to minimize airflow disruption to the oil cooler.
