ARGH...transmission positioning spring missing
Reposting since I put it in the wrong forum...
Hi All: I'm restoring a 1977 Targa 911 - and thank everyone on the forums so far for their invaluable help! I had the Wevo shifter put in, which works wonderfully from the old oatmeal search and find gearing previously. The car shifts ok, but occasionally grinds when going into second. So today I went under to look at the tolerances, ready to potentially adjust the stop screw to the 1.2 and 1mm distances. Angst ensued (and disappointment that my mechanic didn't find this) - there was no positioning spring attached to the positioning arm. And of course, the bolt was therefore flush with the positioning arm. An order to our hosts is in route, but anything I should now be evaluating given this finding? TIA. |
