Hi,
I have been replacing my hoses, and am now working on the carbon canister. I ordered the proper size hoses according to the 911 1989 PET (N 020 362 1), but there is no way a 4MM ID hose is going to make it onto the center nipple of the carbon canister. The PET image, item #12, suggests that the hose end is enlarged at the fitting end, and in fact it is so much larger than the specified hose size (4mm x 9mm), it almost seems manufactured. I have 4mm and 5mm hose on hand but cannot image getting it to stretch out to almost 3/8 ID (~9.5mm). I would like to keep with OEM cloth braided look. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks. ![]() ![]() |

Item 12 (and 13) is the length .
Try dipping the end in a cup of hot water before pushing it on . Last edited by ian c2; 03-27-2021 at 08:38 PM.. |

Thanks Ian and Hotshot for suggestions. I tried for a long while the boiling approach with little success. Resorted to using a nylon hose coupler/reducer I found at West Marine. So the set up is 5mm ID hose via the reducer mates with 9mm ID hose, which manages to fit on the upper nipple of the canister with lube. Not complicated, but really not an approach I though would be required with an all stock setup.

![]() There are a number of applications where Porsche uses a custom Hose with two different size ends... ![]() These are intended to be cut in half, connecting to M8 tube at the small end and M10 tube at the big end. The 914-6 used these and they are very hard to come by now. Len.Cummings at verizon.net
