3.0 SC to 3.4 Carrera flywheel/clutch compatibility
The host car is a 1983 SC. I have removed the stock motor and will be replacing it with a modified, carbed, 3.4 1985 Carrera motor. My question relates to flywheel and clutch kit compatibility using my 915/63 stock transaxle.
The flywheels on the two motors are obviously different. I wanted to leave the stock flywheel on the 3.0 motor when I sell it, but I'm not sure whether or not the 1985 flywheel/clutch stack works with the earlier 1983 915/63 transaxle and starter (which I need to keep). Looks like that same starter is spec'd up to '89. I'm not opposed to swapping flywheels if necessary, I'm just not sure what stack will work. Thanks!

The 915 clutch stack are all the same.
The Carrera flywheel has the counters for the flywheel sensor but will bolt the clutch straight on, fit in the 83 bell housing. All 915 pieces are compatable across the board The ring gear attaches above the pressure plate Bruce |

Thank you for the quick reply Bruce. That's what I was hoping.
My confusion stems from seeing differing listing for the Sachs Sport clutch for the SC and Carrera. No idea why, unless there's greater clamping force for the later set-up.
