SC footwell blower center console fan controller

This is actually for a carerra heat backdate and autoheat delete/rear blower delete. Anybody know what kind of fan speed controller to use for the footwell blowers if i want to keep them?

Just solder in a jumper over the reed valve in the heat relay. Search reed jumper for more info.

I can't remember if it's the rear blower or the footwells, but I don't believe there's a controller—there are biggass resistors under the windshield wipers. Slowest speed goes through the biggest resistor, fastest speed goes through no resistors. They look like AAA batteries.

If you wind up pulling them, put some oil on the felt disc on the pin...Keeps the thing lubricated. Also make sure there's a gap (almost a millimeter) for the squirrel cages...Sometimes they make contact, squeal, jam, overheat, and catch fire...A 3A fuse was added next to the blowers in '87 for this reason. If you have an earlier car, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add them...

So i dont have the auto heat box at the hand brake, it has beem removed, nor am i using the rear wngine bay blower. I want to keep my footwell blower (at least on driver side) for cold weather driving and to pull engine heat off here in Tampa. I guess i just need to treat this as an SC that i am adding footwell blowers to? (Instead of an 86 3.2 since I took off all of the 3.2 stuff). I want to control the foot blowera separately by addimg in a rheostat/ fan switch with speed control. I will manually ipen the heater box valves by movimg the lever at the E brake, and then turn on the footwell blowers. Just need help putting it all together.Does this make aense?

I see no issues, you just want to make sure the rheostat has the right range of resistance for the blowers...I couldn't tell ya what that is, but it might be printed on the factory resistors...

In 85 they made it so the footwell blowers come on at the lowest speed if you pull up on the heat levers (one or both). I believe that this was because the heat can cook the all-plastic blowers if there is not enough air movement. If the switch is still on the heat levers, you may want to incorporate into your circuit. --Dave
