Aluminum Rocker Panels/Creative Help

Need a bit of creative help. #16 in the post below mentions an owner creating his own simple aluminum rocker panels.

For the life of me I cannot find the thread he is referencing. Anyone remember this one?

Options for SC side rocker panels?

I think he's talking about the bit of Aluminum trim that you see polished on early Longhood cars. Not an IB rocker made of Aluminum. I could be wrong though.

My idea is like yours probably, it's the rocker and rubber strip in Aluminum form. Way lighter and can be painted like an original rocker. Definitely softer and easier to damage though. I think AIR made fiberglass replacements at one point, but only for SC flares.

post 10 has the part number to aluminum rockers that look the same as the steel....but I reckon they're not flared enough for SC/Carrera bodies...and they're NLA.
Other than that, I've never seen a lightweight (stock looking) alternative to the SC rockers.

Not sure about the aluminum rockers, but I love the idea. Interested in seeing how that looks if someone's done that.

These guys sell a molded FG one, but for 930's only it looks. Not sure if they have one for SC's.

Chris, Thanks for that part number. Based on that was able to research these:

91155911403 Right side
91155911303 Left Side

These are polished aluminum rockers for 74-77. So would only fit the narrowbody midyear cars. (lucky me) I knew there was a polished version of the rocker out there, but figured it was chromed steel or maybe a cover. Definitely would like to buy a set of these if anyone has a set.

Old pic from the classifieds:

Ah ha, this has to be the thread they were referring to. Thanks.

This gives me some ideas of what to do. I'm thinking of a clean way to extend the body to the level of the oil lines. It would look awesome if the bottom lines of the front and rear bumpers were on the same level as the middle of the car. I'll work something up this winter and reply to this post when I do. thanks guys!

My '77 was ordered with the aluminum trim (all the pieces shown in post #6). This appears on the CoA as "Aluminum Rocker Panels and Fender Trim". The aluminum rockers do get damaged easily by the wheel spray.

Many years ago, when I had SC flares installed and the car painted, I replaced the Aluminum rockers with conventional painted steel, and removed the wheel arch trim completely.
