Bilstein struts dust cover

Hello everyone

Just finished rebuilding my Bilstein struts for my 82 SC. I purchased the B6 inserts from our host as well as elephant racing caps. My question is, should there be something that goes over the strut insert Before I slide the dust cover onto the strut. From diagrams it shows some kind of a spacer but I’m not sure. Note the raised section just before the threaded aspect near the 3nd of the strut insert.

Thanks in advance.

Great
Thank you John

PS. I tried sending you a message a few weeks ago. You needed a throttle body for a late 914. Do you still need one? I can mail it to you.

I was trying to help another local shop, Akers, and they probably still need one. For a 912E. May be different than a 914 2.0.

I have a small rubber spacer that came from Elephant with my B8's that I'm installing in my '75s. Should I not use it? I thought it went between the strut insert and the dust cover. Thanks in advance.

No, toss it. Just keeps the cover on the insert when it's in the box.
