Question Replacement transmission mount options?

I think I've figured out why I'm having problems shifting--the drivetrain seems to be moving all over the place. Tried to grab 3rd after a hard left-right transition and it wasn't there. So I did some experimentation and getting into or out of gear is definitely harder when there are bumps or g's involved.

I've already ordered the "sport" motor mounts from Pelican, but they don't sell replacement transmission mounts. What are you early 911 guys using?

I found the following solid mount from SmartRacing, but my mechanic could weld the factory mount into a "solid" mount for a lot less than $322!

I'm not sure I really want a solid transmission mount anyway. Anyone have a source for new stock mounts, or maybe aftermarket replacement rubber for it?

Pelican parts-genius Darren came up with the following new replacement: A-375-031-00 Transmission Support with Mounts, 911 (1969-71), your cost $654.35

So, if the rubber inserts are truly worn out, it looks like time for a "ghetto mod".

John I welded up the stock mount..

Press out the the stock rubber mounts
Cut the rubber away from the center of the stock mount.
Then cut some discs out of 3/16 or 1/4 in steel.
bolt the tranny mount back up, and install the centers from the sotck mounts, and the discs you have cut, install the muont bolts and make sure the engine/tranny is in the proper spot. Tack weld everything in place, then remove and finish welding..

Now you will have one noisy ass car..

We've overcome similar problems on other cars with the judicious use of (appropriately trimmed) ice hockey pucks.

Given that the chassis mounts are in the same position as later cars, perhaps we could weld the ends of a 915 transmission support to the center section of the 901 mount. It would be nice to be able to use the rubber club sport/cabrio mounts.

I wonder just how different the 915 transmission support is?
