Unhappy Wiper Fluid Reservoir

I am restoring a 74 911 with Turbo front flares. The wiper fluid reservoir is obviously below the driver headlight but:

1) the fill tube is in with the gas cap, a 3/4" hose runs over to the reservoir, and it appears to be impossible to fill without spilling about 99% of my fluid, what the heck is this?

2) the pump is close to the battery , above the reservoir, but there is no check valve in the bottom of the pick up tube, only a screen, meaning that the line would drain back every time

3) I haven't even thought about the headlight washer yet and already I'm in trouble!

Any help / pictures around?

Use a funnel to fill and the check-valves are, typically, in the lines just before the squirters. Can't help much with the headlight washer, the ones I've seen (later models) use a different reservoir with the headlight washer pump mounted in and near the bottom of it.

Okay, seems weird to me to require a funnel, but I guess I have it right, thanks for your help.
