Do I have leather or vinyl seats how do you tell

I hope it doesn't sound silly but I cannot tell if I have vinyl or leather seats. I have a set of 944 vinyl seats and a set of unknown 911 seats. The 911's look like a finer grain but they both kind of smell the same. Is there anyway to tell. I was told that the 911's were leather when I bought them. Now I am not so sure.

Any Help or advice

Trim a tiny sliver from underneat the seat...that would be the acid test. But I'm suspecting you got plasticized...you just know leather when you see it...

The back side of leather looks like a raw suede.

So the backside should be really soft. Here's an upclose frontside shot

The non-destructive test:
spill a few drops of water on the seat. Water will soak into leather, will remain as a drop on vinyl.

Minimally destructive test:
Heat up a needle with a torch - red hot. Touch the hot needle to the material [choose an inconspicuous spot]. Vinyl will melt. Leather will burn.

Thanks Tony, I will try those options. I never thought of the melting and burning.
