A Hose to nowhere

Anyone know where the other end of this thin hose connects behind the gas tank? I put my tank in and don't know where this goes... Do I need to pull it back out?

This hose is part of the fuel expansion tank system. The “other end” of this hose enters the driver compartment through a rubber grommet and connects to another steel pipe which enters the tunnel just behind the gas pedal. (See Pic)
