Alternator / electrics HELP!

Hi Guys, new to the forum but been running my '76 911 for over 10 years now.

Just hope someone can provide some tech-help, pointers or things to look out for:

Been having charging issues lately - basically no charge getting to the battery although the alternator checks out all OK [pumps out up to 22v on revs].

HAVE JUST REPLACED THE REGULATOR and now get 13/14v on idle rising to 17/18v on revs, thus charges the battery. [ Also for your info, meter on the regulator terminals: D+ = 14 to 22v and DF = 8 to 11v]

HOWEVER, ignition light glows BRIGHT under revs plus both indicator/turn signal dash gauge lights are illuminated [dim on idle but brighten under revs].

Any suggestions? Just a bad earth or something more sinister.

If the battery continues to get 13/14v to 18v will it fry?

Will the power spikes on revs [max 18v] also fry other components, bulbs etc?

Thanks for your help in advance but if you need anything clarified, just ping me.

It will fry the battery, the radio, relays, etc.

I would remove alternator and take it to an automotive electrical shop. They can test and replace your bad diodes. Have them replace the two bearings while it is apart. Rob

Greater than 15v is too much. As Rob says get your alternator checked. I recently got mine rebuilt for $100. New bearings, bushes and regulator.
