Smile 1987 CARRERA Changing transmission oil

I just past 100,000 miles on my 87 carrera G50. (Top end was overhauled 2 years ago as a result of a leak but "while you were there" .... I read a few posts and today I received 1 gallon of highly recommended MOBIL 1 DEVLAC 75W90 transmission oil suited for a G50 transmission.
I have never done this project in my 23 years of ownership, but, it seems to be a fairly easy process ...
I prepared a gravity process tool where one end of the tube is inserted into the input hole and the other is attached to a large funnel that will be attached to my work table approx. 2 ft. higher.
Any suggestions RELATED to this project will be most appreciated.

You probably already know this, but:

1) remove the fill plug before you drain the trans. If you drain first and then can't get the fill plug out, you're stuck without a ride until you can refill.

1a) check the condition of both plugs and if either is at all bodged up, replace with new to save you the hassle next time

1b) I use anti-seize on both plugs; I'd suggest you do the same as overtightening and galvanic corrosion are the two primary reason these plugs get stuck

2) leave the new oil in the sun for a couple of hours to warm up and become more viscous; it'll be much easier to flow into your trans that way (a tub of hot water works great, too)

Not sure if your G50 has LSD, but you should probably find out whether you might need to add a friction modifier.

Good luck!

It's not difficult--it's easier than an oil change. It's just a slow process (gravity feed) if you don't have a pump because of the viscosity of the gear oil. Removal of the left rear wheel (I just put the car on a jackstand on the left rear torsion bar end) makes access a little easier, but is not necessary. Good luck!
