1985 911sc a/c inop need help
 

Okay so i was going to recharge and the recharge kit shows normal level. What do you check first for power to compressor etc... any help out there in the priority order. waiting appointment with my porsche guys but its hooooot

Much that could be suggested here, but you'd be best served to go to www.griffiths.com, website of Griffiths Air Conditioning, maker of the best a/c products for Porsche; not necessarily to buy stuff, but to read the tech explanations of how the systems work and how to troubleshoot. Like fuel injection, you'll want/need to gain some understanding before anything else.

What’s your cold A/C setup? Asking for a friend with an ‘83SC ;).

1. Check fuses

2. AC relay and condensor blower relay (in smugglars box)

3. If you put the AC on low (or 1) temp switch to full cool, 12V should be present on the compressor clutch and the clutch should engage

4. If your compressor clutch engages and your compressor spins, but no cool air, you can check the refrigerant pressures if you have an A/C manifold. If not you can either have a blockage in your refrigerant system (receiver/dryer, expansion valve, ...) or not enough refrigerant in the system to get to adequate pressure.

5. If that checks out OK : check the electrics towards the front condensor fan and the blower fan (in smugglars box)
