Fuel pressure checking on a 3.2

Trying to fix a surge issue and I picked up a cheap amazon fuel pressure tester because I didn't like all the HF reviews on their master FP test kit. This one also came with the 12x1.5 adapter I would need.

Does this test port require a special type of adapter?

The adapter seemed to fit ok but leaked like a siff when I gave power to the pump. Here's a picture.. Should this work?

Someone I know mentioned that it may need a part that kind of sticks out into the test port.

Thanks
-Dan

Compression fitting........

Dan,

You need a compression fitting. The fuel line that goes with the fitting you were showing should the have the “nipple” for compression. Like these fittings:

just use a section of rubber hose and some hose claps. Works fine and is usually readily available

The fitting you show is a M14 Female Euro Flare.

It is meant to connect to a M14 Male Euro Flare like this...

or this.....

The above fittings are not correct for the 3.2 Fuel Rail Test port. The fitting at the test port....

is a Male Cone as shown on the Right in this photo....

The correct Female fitting to mate with this Male Cone has a ball or globe center as Tony shows above or as this...

and connects to the Fuel Rail as this....

I am happy to help if any Metric fittings or hoses/lines are needed.

Ooops, I stand Corrected. My apologies.

This fitting is M12 x 1.5. The type of fitting is the same as described, and I have this size as well.

Hi Danny,

The Harbor Freight test kit works just fine, so nothing to be afraid of buying it, plus it is inexpensive and has scads of fittings. It had everything I needed to check my 84 Carrera.

Good luck with your project.

I pulled the trigger on the HF Master FP test kit.

I was told to remove the schrader valves.

I removed the valves from the fitting and the one that connects directly to the gauge from the block.

When I do, I get nothing from the gauge when I give it some air from my compressor.

When I put the valves back in the fittings it works.

Is there another valve somewhere in the mix?

Harbor Freight CIS pressure gauge kit........

One fellow Pelicanparts member sent me message that the WCP of the WUR-090 was reading only 46 psi. instead of 52 psi. according to the spec sheet I provided. I could not believe how I made a mistake in the calibration and worse, sent it out to someone for trial test. So I apologized and recalled the errant WUR.

Upon arrival of the WUR-090, I immediately installed the WUR in my tester to check the WCP (warm control pressure). It registered 52 psi. exactly the same setting I made a couple of weeks earlier.

So I informed the guy that the WUR has 52 psi. WCP not 46 psi. according to the recent test using multiple gauges. And very confident that reading @ 52 psi. was correct. This is the picture of his pressure gauge:

It was a HF pressure gauge. I buy and use tools from HF but not their CIS gauges. There were numerous occasions that the HF gauges performed poorly and troublesome to use. The WUR was shipped to the prospective owner and installed in the car. My last email from him was he was driving the car now and will keep the demo WUR.

For anyone that's goes through the same issue.

I had to remove the valve from all the quick connects along with all the schrader valves. It now works as expected.
