1987 Passenger side door won't lock with key, works fine otherwise

Hello, I tried to do some searching on the forum for info on this and seemed to not find anything specifically about this.

My '87 911's locking system seems to work fine for the most part, but I noticed that I cannot lock the passenger side door with the key. I can unlock it, and I can lock/unlock it from the driver's side (triggering the whole system) with the key.

The central locking button also seems to work. It locks all, but does not seem to unlock anything. Is that correct?

I read enough to know that there is a microswitch inside the door. Is it likely that this switch is bad on the passenger side, and can this be repair or does it need to be replaced? I have had the door panel off numerous times to deal with window issues a couple years ago. I can probably get it on and off relatively quickly, even though I would rather not!

Thanks!

On my '88, I can unlock the passenger door w/ the key but not lock it. Not sure if this is normal. On the driver's side, I can lock & unlock both doors.

As to central locking, I can lock & unlock the doors w/ the button.

Sound's like both of you have a problem with the micro-switch. In general they can't be repaired but it depend's on the issue with the switch. Can the drivers door be locked and unlocked from the pass. side ? If not the problem is with the micro-switch circuit.

You can check the micro-switch signal at the connector in the bottom of the door without removing it.
You have to remove the door handle to replace the micro-switch.

Thanks, my driver's door can only be unlocked from passenger side. Not locked. Nothing happens when I try to lock from passenger side.
Sounds like the microswitch is the issue. I'll deal with it over the winter I guess.
