Question. Parcel shelf recovering & back window.

1981 911 SC Coupe

Do I need to remove the back window if I were to want recover the parcel tray/shelf?

My car is currently getting some bodywork and paint done and my parcel shelf is in pieces. Wonder if it is a good opportunity for me to take advantage of the back window being out to do this.

I thought I recall somewhere the back window needs to come out to complete the job. Maybe I got the wrong info somewhere.

Thanks in advance.

The deck just unscrews and pulls free
There is spacers under the panel to keep the speaker magnets off the metal deck.

when you remove the panel screws, lift the front of rear rear panel up towards the roof as it has a hook on back side of the panel to the body that needs to be raised out of its holder- its only about an inch in length.

No window removal required

Thanks, appreciate the answers. I will wait on reupholstering it then.

Was it the windshield that comes out to reupholster the dash? Where did I read windows needed to come out for reupholstering.
