Help Needed Targa to Cabriolet Convesion
Hi Folks, back about 15yrs ago, when it was still sort of trendy, my dad bought a damaged 77 Targa and immediately cut the bar off. He's wanted a Cab for years.
Fast forward a bunch of years, I've been helping him finally complete the project. Last year we bought used cutout chunks for the front mounts where the pivot points bolt in just behind the doors. We just picked up a complete OE 1983 manual top/frame. Now we need to figure out where the front mounts should sit so they can be welded in. So I'm checking to see if anyone has even 1 picture of either a real 1st gen Cab, or a converted car, with the top removed to show the mounts. The top locks in fine to the windshield header and the rear radius of the top lays into the package shelf (for lack of a better name) no problem. I've searched quite a bit for info but many "conversion" threads are the reverse, Cab back to Targa. Any help or leads appreciated. Thanks, Scott |

Do you have this manual? Not sure if it shows enough to answer your questions - refers to factory templates that no one has. If you want the rest of the manual (7 pages total) let me know.

What you have shown is a big help already, thanks.
We have the part that is in the persons hand and if the manual shows that part in place/installed it would be even better to see that. Either way I would be eternally grateful if you could send/show any other illustrations that would help in locating the parts properly. I can PM my email if you like. Thanks a ton, Scott |

I'll send you what I have. I don't recall where I got it -- pulled it down from somewhere on the internet and for some reason I only have about 7 pages of it. Most of it is the early steps for removing the targa parts. Hopefully it will help.

I can't figure out how to attach via PM. I'm posting the 7 pages I have... I pulled them down off the web a couple of years ago and that's all there was... not sure if the rest of it can be tracked down...I'll see.

There were a couple of guys on Pelican over the years that stated they had copies... maybe one of them will chime in with the rest of it.
