Alternator warning light question

Alternator at shop, was being re-built. Shop now testing unit post re-build, say can't get warning light to function. It is otherwise functioning. Any thoughts?

New external VR installed?
Or is it a newer alternator with internal VR?

If internal, they need to install a 5 watt 91 ohm resistor across the blue and red/black wires at the lamp socket on the gauge.
As per the Technical Service bulletin about upgrading the alternator to internal VR type..

Like this one I made for my car. (Poor photo)

Original alt with external VR, tested using Orig VR. Shop has ordered a new VR.

FYI alt failed when bearings went, per diff thread.

Thanks

Ok, possibly the remote VR was cooked with a big Voltage spike when Alternator failed.
