mfi space cam replacement
How hard is it to replace the space cams in a 73 T with those from an E?
|
It's not for the faint of heart. I'm a major DIYer and I'm a little afraid to open that pump. It's got alot of little pieces and bits that have to fit together just right. If it was me I'd either send mine out or try and find a pump off an E.

good advice?.... {looks around} I don't see any good advice.. just some shpeal from some guy who doesn't even have his car on the road yet.
I've only been in the porsche world for about 6 months, there are others out there who know infinitly more than I. Hopefully they'll chime in here with more solid advice. |
I think it is possible to replace the cam. However, that is not the hard part. You have to adjust the pump according to the specs for a E pump. There is some information on the technicle article section but I don't think that is enough. You need the equipment and a thorough understanding of the adjustment procedure. For instance, I always thought that the amount of fuel injected is proportional to the displacement of the main rack in the pump, however, the technicle article says it is not. It depents also on the RPM of the pump/motor.
