Help with '73 911t (non CIS) engine wiring

Hey guys,

since there is a lot of patchwork going on with the engine wiring of my ’73 Euro 911t I want to redo the whole thing (backwards from the 14 pin connector). First thing I’m trying to figure out it weather the engine electronics board is built up and wired correctly.

Here is a picture of my relay board:

No. 1 is the relay for the rear window defroster
No. 2 – wiring colours tell me this is the RPM transducer or „speed switch“. Is that something my car shoud even have (Euro carburetor version)?
No. 3 – what is this? Aftermarket voltage regulator? It matches the whole pattern in the board perfectly so I doubt it’s a generic part.
No. 4 – Permatune Gen. 4. Is this okay to use or are there known issues?

thanks for your input!

Andy

PS: Unfortunately I can’t find a wiring diagram for the 1973 model year without CIS. Can anybody help (either English or German version would do)?

I'm not sure what years this picture covers, but it can be a clue for how yours is modified.

The rpm transducer will feed the solenoid of the auxiliary enrichment circuit which would be standard for carbureted EU cars. If you want to keep the car original, the transducer should be connected to the micro switch and solenoid mounted to the carbs. Engine will run fine without the enrichment system (search this forum on how to plug it).

Thank you, both. Good to now about the enrichment circuit - I will follow your advice and deactivate it.

Does anybody know what part 3 is?

EDIT: It's a replacement voltage regulator like this one: https://www.parts-wise.com/porsche-911/electrical-equipment/generator-starter-distributor/c36/90160320602-regulator/p48834/

That's one big jerry rig. I would look for a new console with original parts. Original CDI would be the only expensive thing on there.
