Adapt Motorsports Mini Blade Fuse Panel for G-Bodies Review

Adapt Motorsports Mini Blade G-body Fuse Panel Review
Product was purchased and review is voluntary and uncompensated

Car: 1977 Porsche 911s
Installation time: 2.5 hrs

Tools:
Flat head and Philips screwdrivers
Needle nose pliers or hemostats for positioning wires within binding terminals
3mm hex wrench

Design Features:
Large 5.5 mm wire openings. Stock panel wire terminal opening is only 4.75mm. The Adapt panel has fully 34% more surface area in the opening - there was no issue fitting the stock ferrules or even multiple ferrules into the Adapt panel.

Hex screws with deep threads making loosening or tightening easy with one hand. Tightening was very secure given width of screws.

Insulation spacer pad had adhesive side making attachment to factory panel with fastening screws easy.

Jumpers are integral within the circuit board – marked with white arrows between jumped terminals

Switchable LED’s for fuse status

Built in headlight relays

Suggested Improvements:
Directions would be improved if they were published online in pdf format and contained more detailed photos. My primary hesitancy was that I couldn’t preview the installation directions first.

Installation considerations:
Majority of time was spent labeling and organizing wires. The actual act of securing wire ferrules to the panel was very easy. Wide openings make it easy to see correct ferrule placement within the terminal.

Stock wiring length of the factory harness is too short to allow placing the new panel side by side with the old one and transferring wires one at a time.

The headlight relays require slightly moving some connectors on the PC board – there was no issue reconnecting stock wires.

Overall impression:
This is a well-made product that feels substantial. The wire securing terminals are far stronger and much more secure than the stock panel.

Great value – better design with larger terminal openings and lower price than other currently blade fuse panel replacement options.

Highly recommended with only suggestion to improve and publish installation directions online. The actual installation was far easier than anticipated – this is largely due to the product design.

Headlights are definitely brighter.

Installation Help: Great YouTube video of installation here (not mine):

I agree, that’s why I measured the wire opening size of the terminals. I figured that if the size of the Adapt Motorsport terminal is larger than OEM then there is no need to modify the ferrules or wiring.

That’s actually what happened during my installation. The actual wire connecting was the easiest part.

I can’t quite get over the price of these things. Looks like a nice bit of kit, but it’s a fuse panel….

...but what's the alternative then, if you want these types of fuses, but don't want to pay for an Adapt or Classic Retrofit panel ? 'is there something else out there' (of course there is, but that's discussion for another type of forum)

I like the larger openings versus the Classic design which I installed. I would have considered this one if I had known :-)

Porsche tax, you could make one easily but gathering all the parts puttting it together et would take hours.

I just installed one of these in the front of my SC. I agree with OP’s assessment. Install was easy.

I spent some time taking photos and videos of the stock wires in their stock locations, which came in handy after some labels fell off and when one wire got trapped behind the panel a little bit. For the most part, the wires all fall where they want to be so it’s just a ‘remove n replace’ job.

Sure you could put in any ol’ blade fuse panel, but it’s not going to fit and look near as nice without substantial work. Nice bonus to have the integrated headlight relays and stuff. I was happy to just pay for this one.
