Brake pads for 88 3.2
For anyone out there still tracking an air cooled 911 with all the newer hot machines out there, I'm looking for an alternative to Hawk Blue brake pads due to excessive corrosive dust. They had great braking performance, but cleaning the wheels after DE's is nearly impossible. I tried a set of Hawk HP Street 5.0, but poor performance at the last autocross has me looking for another alternative (clearly not up to DE event).
Performance Friction 8 or 11 compounds were recommended. Can you compare either of these to the Hawk Blue for performance and or corrosive dust? Which compound did you like best? BTW, also had a bit of a heat problem with the Hawk Blues at the last DE. Right front dust boots were fried. First time that has happened. Thanks |

I'm running PF 97 or 11 based on previous owner's recommendation. They dust, but I find it very very easy to clean. I need more track time to really tell you long term experience.
I would suggest trying a paint sealant on the wheels next time you clean then. I find the dust hoses off after doing this. |

The Hawk Blues are horrible. The dust just does not come off. I have used the PF's on the track and they are great. Also work well on the street as they dont have to be red hot to grip. On the track, brake bite is hard and immediate.
