3.4L with 20/21 cams done. Now will it pass CA emissions?

The first week of lockdown here in Michigan, I decided to pull my 3.2 from my '87 Carrera that was long overdue for valve guides. With 95k on the clock, the car smoked since I bought it 7 years prior, and burnt upwards of a quart every 300 miles or so. I put the repair off for years as I was building another car. As with most Porsche projects, it became a slippery slope with a number of "while it's out" upgrades. Specs as follows...

3.4L
10.3:1 CP pistons
ARP rod bolts (Rods balanced)
New steel head studs
Reconditioned rockers
Rebuilt heads (thanks Craig)
Web 20/21 cams
Bored throttle body to 66.5mm
Old FR Wilk 3.2 chip...always seemed fat before
Cat delete.
Dynomax muffler on stock HE

I've not got about 150 miles on the engine and it's pulling strong. Feels very eager and revs nicely to 6200 before it drops off. Will get it on the dyno soon to verify numbers and fuel. All said, I now need to move to Laguna Beach for work. Would like to know if people have passes emissions with the cams? I'd of course reinstall the cat.

With the stock cat from Porsche, I presume?

I've 20/21's on my 3.2 SS with CIS, sounds like it has a chance with the right CAT. It's bypassed as I decide on the CAT.

Yes, but came to find out that the stock cat was in this condition...

https://youtu.be/CNDkAZcb8AE

I'm shocked that the car passed with that cat.

I can dig up the results next week and post them up.

I have since added an open airbox lid, Dansk pre-muffler and Dansk 84mm sport muffler (same 20/21 cams) and had the car tuned by Steve Wong on the dyno...

The car runs STRONG and sounds GREAT.

Should pass with O2 sensor and CAT
It it’s not original CAT, CA can be picky about the replacement
With all you’ve done it’s probably worth getting a SW chip, then have him adjust it based on dyno
Part throttle uses the O2 sensor but WOT uses a fixed mapping which Steve can adjust based on you dyno results

Yes. CC'd out to about 10.25:1. Have been running on 91 here in Michigan without issue or detection of knock. Then again, i'm not sitting on the rev limiter. Assume there are plenty of Euro 3.2's in the area. Not to mention that the static comp will be lower with cams.

Also, sniffer test results. Passed pretty readily...

Stock cat will clean a multitude of sins, you are good to go. Make sure you have the stock airbox and snorkel.
