alternator air diverter orientation

I am about to modify my air diverter for the internal regulator and was wondering about orientation. Is there any simple way to know which way this thing goes? I know I could test fit but the car is miles away. I believe that I remember the two fins being centered on 12 oclock but I cannot say for sure.

Hi Len, You know what is a very good cheap investment for all R&R and R&I projects I'm talking about $25.00 and worth every buck.
A Polaroid Camera.. not kidding it's real time? it's cheap, you can easily compile photos in a project binder But most importantly it will help you answer allot of your own questions.. Just some simple advice.
BTW on my 77 the diverter can only be installed in one orientation, I'm not about your Turbo.

I know what you mean, live and learn. I now have my digital camera on my workbench. Some of us have to learn the hard way. But my time machine is also down so I have to ask a bunch of stupid questions for a while.

On my car they start near the top of the alt and then end towards the driver's side.

You can actually tell from the b&w photos in the Bentley Manual - at least for the Carreras anyway. I ran into this problem in Jan and marked it with a red marker.
