Question Mounting seats to floor

Anyone have any information or suggestions on mounting the seats directly to the floor.

Obviously reinforcement is necessary, but what else?? Any ideas, suggestions, warnings?

I'm looking to gain maximum head room and would like to go with SRD's or Torino's or similar seats. Might consider another seat NOT mounted to the floor, but some kind of custom drop bracket. I'm just not sure how much room I can gain by going with a racing shell seat and a custom bracket. My car's a sunroof model and I almost touch the headliner in normal driving, a helmet is out of the question. Got to do something soon!!

All info and/or pics would be appreciated

I made some brackets myself from steel wich are bolted to the factory rails. The back part of the chair is allmost touching the floor. I am 1.96 meters tall and i fit in with helmet easy now

Clay,
I am in the process of doing this.

What year is your car. If it is a Carrera with the DME like mine under the seat, you will have to move it.

I have a Konig sp700 chair that I am mounting directly to the floor. I will have 2ea 1/8" X 2" 1018 steel brackets I______I in a long u shape, welded to where the old brakets attached to the car. This will be right on the inside floor. This is to prevent the oil can effect since the floor is thin.

Then on the underside I will have 2 1/2" wide steel stock as plates acting as washers for front and rear bolts going up into seat.

I have a long torso, and found the Konig seats to fit. That is, the shoulder harness cut out lined up correctly. SRD holes were to low. If you havent tried the seats make sure you do before purchasing.

Good Luck. I cant wait to try my new set up. I hace had to scrunch for a couple of years.

Joe

Just so your year car. your lucky, no DME.

So did you have to cut out the original seat mounts that are welded to the floor??
