Power top latching motor questions

The left side power convertible top lifting/latching motor isn't working. Ive taken it off the car.

Can this motor be bench tested off the car? It has a 4 wire harness. The wire colors are blue, black, red, and green.

I did take the motor apart. Everything looks good internally. No broken teeth on any gears. The latching lever will move when the manual screw is turned by hand. The motor isn't locked up.

Is the switch working that activates the motor when the top comes down on it? If this switch doesn't work, the motor won't activate.

I got a cabriolet top motor I like to bench test too. And I will be following this thread with much interest. Thanks.

Can you manually turn it back and forth across the entire range without feeling any binding. Mine had a spot where it would get hard to turn. The brass gear was not missing any teeth but it had a hairline crack that would jam the motor under load. Replaced the gear and top works perfectly. Good Luck!

I took it apart again and found no cracks or
binding. The switch is good as well.

Ive found that the small micro switch inside is bad. I checked with our host and not available. Anyone know of an aftermarket supplier for this small micro switch?

Cazz,

Would you share some pictures of your micro switch? I got a spare motor I like to tinker. Thanks.

Tony
