915 throw out bearing question

Does any one know the diameter of the guide tube for a 915 tranny? Also what is the proper ID for the trow out bearing? These don't have to be exact. I am just trying to figure out if my throw out bearing is wrong with a ID of 1 1/4 in approx or the guide tube of 1 1/2 approx

Thanks
Ben

The guide tube for the 915 is 40mm diamter nominal, should measure just under. The TOB is a glide fit over this.
There was a change of part # 83 - 84, but not sure if the diameter of the guide tube changed. We only use the 40mm version that fits onto all aluminum case and some mag case 915's. The TOB part # from 83 to 84 is the same, so I doubt there is a diameter change with the number change.
I can be pretty sure the answer to your question is 40mm.
Only a 912E version of the 915 would have a smaller guide tube, but also a different TOB too.

I just double checked the part number with the SACHS book and it appears that SACHS packaged it wrong. The throw out bearing is for a 924 turbo according to the numbers stamped into it. Thanks for the help

just in case...(if you are replacing the TO bearing guid tube)

there is a seal INSIDE the guide tube...many articles and books seem to leave this out...

I lost a lot of tranny fluid before I learned that...when I bought a new tube there was no seal inside or mentioned...

good luck

What is the reason that I would have to put a new guide tube other then wear? Is there different sizes depending on year? (915)
