Need a photo of OEM rear banana arm mounting point.
![]() ![]() Hey all. I’m reverse engineering this race chassis, and I’d love a picture of the OEM mounting point if you have a chassis handy. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

HI Michael,
I'm sure someone will post a better picture for you but I just took this one today of my '72, if you zoom in on the pic it may help. There is a non-factory bolt welded onto one of the mounts. Looking forward to your next video... what is taking you so long ![]() ![]() Thanks, Rodney

What specifically are you trying to do? What year car? Looks like the inner pickup points have been moved up about two inches with those camber boxes. It also looks like the other pickup points have NOT been moved up, yet there are some custom spring plates.
Are you looking for measurements or just pictures? There are plenty of pix of that area in these Forums from various 911s.

I've searched a lot...but there's nothing that specifically points me to this inner pickup point.

It looks like your boxes have been built onto the stock mounting points .
If you wanna drive down to Laguna hills you can take a look at mine , take measurements etc . It’s stripped down and on a chassis dolly allready I’m just off the 5 at la Paz (2 past eltoro ) |

You are planning on running 15" or 16" wheels with your Subi swap with a 24-25" tire?
You are going to need all the space cut out in the center to fit the 996 box, looks like your chassis is setup for a 993 6-speed right now? You aren't going to ever be able to run torsion bars with a 6-speed unless you really mod things for '87-'89 g50 style torsion bars. Why not just set the ride height and alignment with the spring plates you are going to run, be they stock pivot point or bolt on "935" style raised spring plate pivot ones, and then you will know where in that adjustment range you need to be. For your use if my assumptions above are correct, that inner pickup point adjuster just lets you get the camber adjustment into the correct range at the ride height setting and outer pickup point location. Bolt on "935" style spring plates only raise the outer pivot ~25mm so even if you do that, you can cut off a good 2.5in or so off the top of the adjuster boxes as you will never need that range of adjustment. Just be sure once you are done cutting things you don't need off that you add sufficient structure back. Any time the torque tube is cut all the way through like that, you loose a lot of stability in the pickup point mount and without knowing where they attach, it's hard to say but the current tube reinforcement that is done doesn't look to have the greatest load support path. |

Hi Michael,
I'm not sure I would get rid of those. Do a lot of research first. Ahhh Garage Time, Tom, did a video on creating what you have for his 911. It helps with improving suspension. I'm not even a beginner on this topic. If it is not in the way of your transmission/engine I would see if you can keep it? Thanks, Rodney

Rodney ,
The problem he has is the relocated pickups are turbo-spec , so using standard rear arms pushes your rear wheels back ( a good thing) but you need to “massage” the rear quarters to get the wheel back centered . Turbo arms are Pretty similar to swb Arms dimensions wise , but it’s easier to use standard pickup points and standard lwb narrowbody parts . He could even cut of what he has and fit narrowbody boxes , or make his own like tom did . He really needs to come see my car , as Im only 30 minutes away and have Both turbo and Carrera rear arms , and both sets of mounting points to compare . It will become clear in seconds when it’s all in front of you in person .... Evan , His boxes and torsion beam are braced horizontally to tunnel and vertically/angled to the cage , and angled horizontally to the sills/rockers Inside the car . Pretty much all you need to do has been covered . His spring plates are FAR from stock .... Last edited by ian c2; 08-23-2020 at 03:48 PM.. |

I’m not sure that’s a compliment ...
I pride myself on appearing absolutely clueLess about everything !!! ![]() In truth , I have the parts to show him what he has got and what is needed , and a car that is set up for both scenarios , and the ability to lend him parts to do mock-up and measuring . I a;so know a bit about music and crappy british hifi ![]() ![]() |

If any area of the 911 could use some forward-thinking-reverse-engineering it's that particular point --a little more room is needed there at that point, in order to get normal-sized sockets wrenches to easily fit w/o specialized tools or dropping the transmission ...etc.
