Micro switch adjustment on 1972 911T MFI

Hi folks. Another question about the 72. When the throttle is at idle position, the adjustable screw that activates the micro switch is just touching the switch. If I reach in with my finger I can push down on the switch and it clicks. I have attached a photo that was taken with car not running and the engine cold. Should the switch be pushed done until it clicks when the throttle is in idle position? Thanks

Yes, and as I recall, to test the switch and solenoid rev the engine up to 2400-2500 rpm and depress the micro switch and the engine should shut off . The micro switch only cuts off the fuel when on deceleration over 2300 rpm. it allows enough fuel for the engine to maintain an idle Hope this helps Ian

Close the throttle.Back off the adjustment.Turn the screw. When you hear it click turn 1.5 turns and do not touch it again. That is the factory setting. If your rpm transducer works life is good for you.Fred One more thing is the updated transducer is the one for a carb car from a 2.2 Zenith car to prevent stalling.Ciao from NC.

Yes,your thoughts are correct but when the microswitch works and the transducer is in harmony as long as the microswitch is held down the motor will hunt up and down until you release the pressure on the microswitch.I hope this helps.

Thanks for the valuable answers. I currently have the rpm transducer removed from the car because of a couple of detached diodes. Larry

That means that the micro switch is inert . No need to adjust it . ian
