How much is to much?
I have a quote for recovering of two front seats with my own materials for $1,700. Does that sound to high? Yes, the company is good and they will be perfect, but $1,700?

Sounds a bit pricey to me. I got a quote for $600 labor each to cover sport seats.

Best thing to do is get some quotes from a few other vendors and then compare. I paid a bit less just recently so shop around.

The price is in the ballpark of what a lot of reputable shops seem to charge.

1700 with you paying for material is too much. I was quoted 1900 for a local "best in the biz" shop for a pair of '92 sports seats in cashmere leather (shop sourced material)
Classic 9 charges 950 to do it (install, not materials). No affiliation, never used them but what I've seen of their work has been really good. http://www.classic9leathershop.com/seat-upholstery/front-seat-upholstery-professional-installation/ |

Why get custom made when there are so many pre made kits available less than 500. Do it yourself for free its not that hard. My kit even came with the hog rings and pliers.

Thanks for the replys,
Porschedude, Why get custom made when there are so many pre made kits available less than 500. Do it yourself for free its not that hard. My kit even came with the hog rings and pliers. I found some excellent fabric from Syria and I couldn't help but put it in this build. I also sourced some airline grade leather, so recovering the cheap stuff the seats came with was the plan anyways. The cost seams high, but that's been a theme of this entire project. Driven "too" not "to." [Politics deleted] Your right, but I'm not always perfect and that's ok. Last edited by Jack Olsen; 09-04-2020 at 10:24 AM.. |

If you’re only suppling the fabric and they are going to sew the covers, make the foam and install, I don’t think that is unreasonable for high quality.
I have just bought presewn leather, molded foam for both seats at a cost of about $1,200 and install will be $275 a seat.
