Shop Labor Estimates

I’m looking for some reasonable shop labor hour estimates by an experienced Porsche shop for a 79 911SC for the following:
- Remove engine
- Remove & replace clutch, pressure plate, disc, pilot bearing and flywheel
- Remove old chain tensioners and replace with new hydraulic tensioners
- Remove and replace oil return tubes
- Re install engine
- With engine out, remove and upgrade with new AC compressor and AC lines to front
- With engine in, remove and upgrade with new AC compressor and AC lines to front
Any additional info and /of advice welcome.

Whatever $$ you come up with, add 30% for suspension odds and ends, axles, exhaust troubles, starter or alternator or both, fuel lines etc... Assuming you are certain the headstuds are all good or the engine was recently rebuilt.

Da Vinci nailed it. There’s $5k worth of add ons and possibly another $5k worth of ‘oh $hit’ stuff

That list, to me looks like $6k in labor. AC stuff isn’t difficult but it is a lot of time.

And you really should do a valve adjustment and I’m sure there will be plenty of seals and gaskets that’s should be tended to.

Your looking at $125 to $180 an hour for labor could be more depending on where you live. North of $10,000 for parts and labor my guess.

OP stated he wanted labor only. I'd agree with your $10K estimate for parts and labor

Our aircraft mechanic doesn't charge that hourly wage.....

I spent 2k on labor with my independent P-car mechanic here in S Florida. I provided the suspension parts. All back to stock, nothing more.
