Electrical Problems - Turn indicator / handbrake warning light / door buzzer

Hello from Sweden,

I have encountered a strange problem with my 911T 1971 (US Specs).

When turning on the ignition, door buzzer sounds all them time even if the doors are closed. When switching the turn indicator either left or right, the door buzzer stops, and the turn indicator lights in the instrument panel flashes correctly (green left or right arrow), but now also the handbrake warning light flashes with the same pace. Once switched off again, door buzzer sounds... Have checked the relay and it seems to be working properly, however if I remove the turn indicator relay all problems disappear (so does the turning indicators also obviuosly). The behaviour is exactly the same if the engine is running or not. How can the turn indicator relay be related to the door buzzer and handbrake warning light??? Any ideas where to start please.....

HI,

Does your car have 4 way emergency flashers? If so, that circuit could be involved as it is "hot" all the time. I had a similar mystery recently with a 1958 Mercedes 220S. I found a mouse had gnawed the insulation off several wires in a bundle and they were shorting to each other, activating things that should not have been.

I would suggest looking along the wiring toward the four way flasher control switch for any exposed wiring or bad connections.

Look at number 33 on this wiring diagram, which I think is the emergency flasher control, and you'll see how it ties into some of your other affected circuits.

Good luck, Jeff

Good luck!
