Raising seats

I ve read many thread about raising the seats via a shim or rail extension

could some one post their experience and photos of how they raised their seats...I could then get an aluminum bar to attach between original part but would like to see how attachment points are made..ie does bar attach to old capture nuts and does eat attach to bar through new threaded holes or ?

the real risers dont seem to be available anywhere?

Pictures are best help for me

thanks

bob

BMW Roundel

I made these for my SC. When I got it it came with Recaro Classic C’s. I’m short and I didn’t like the view over the hood so I concocted these. The idea would work with factory seats too I’m sure.

They are essentially nesting U-channels that the factory seat rails bolt onto. They pivot at the front and the rear of the tracks have three holes so the height of the back of the seat can be raised. As it turned out the lowest position was OK for me. Which was good because I can’t raise them any higher because the seat back will hit the roof! (Sunroof coupe) A design parameter I didn’t take into account; never crossed my mind, ‘matter of fact. I don’t know if this would be an issue with any of the factory seats.

I used the clevis pins all around to facilitate easy R&R of the seats.

Side note on the Recaros. I’m not fond of them at all; remind me of a fancy dentist chairs! I would far rather have factory sport seats but they’ve gotten pricey. Curiously the seats are dated 1970, which predate the ‘82 SC so some P/O had to have put them used when they were at least 12 years old!

Thanks Steam..but what I am looking for is more like the risers in the old links group911 provided. unfortunately these cant be found anywhere..so i need the actual dimensions if some one has, especially the hole positions/sizes. I would think for strength, the holes in the riser would be threaded to match the longer bolts need given the capture nut on the seat mount is minimal sized?

Nice work, I never thought to incorporate an angle adjustment.

This spring/summer I'm going to fabricate something similar, was supposed to happen last year but life got in the way.
