Has anyone done an ST Targa?
Probably kinda silly, I know. Just curious as to what it might look like? Anybody...?

What's an ST. I've done lots of dumb things and this could have been one.

![]() ![]() ![]() Really something of a contradiction to do a Targa up as an ST since they're so "structurally unsound", but I may end up with a Targa and I'm looking at ways to personalize it. I love the backdating idea, so I'd like to see if an ST treatment would be ok or just look too damn silly...

Thanks. I've alwas referred to them as S, or RS, or RSR, or S/T. My feeling is the Targa was designed by Ferry for high speed cruising on nice sunny days and not racing. I've thought about backdating mine (pre 1974) but probably never will. Rather get a coupe as a project car and play with it keeping the Targa for high speed cruising on nice sunny days.

Have you see the carrera turbo look targas - that would be a great car to start out with - rare- flares - big brakes and turbo suspension - hearty 3.2 - and you can flip your lid for open air enjoyment (and still DE the car)

Yeah, I like the wide body Targas from the 80s. It actually looks somewhat proper with the heavier impact bumper cars. I'm just not sure it'll look as good on a long hood. But maybe?
...looking for Photoshop bits right now...

I think that and ST Targa would be a great "R-Gruppe" style of conversion, and definitely different then a "Turbo body Targa". The long-hood look would make it unique. Sure it would be more flexible and heavier then the coupe, but I assume that this is for street use rather then track use. Make it really special and make it a soft window conversion too!
Go for it!

I did find this...I took these at the Taj car show a few years ago. I remember it looked pretty good. Of course, it's an RSR, not an S/T. Still....

![]() This is what it looks like after I get my hands on it... ![]() Where the flares and bumpers live now... ![]()
