Seat advice

I have these right now...
And if I keep the car next year, I want to drop some Lbs. Thinking that seat are usually a good place to do so. I have looked at the GTS Vallelunga, I think the hard shell back paint matched to the rollbar would look quite nice.

I am wondering what other options, I think the impact cars can be tricky, if it's to vintage it can look off, if it's to modern it can look off.

What do you guys think?

imho, seats are just part of the interior. They need to work with the overall theme... so door cards, carpets, dash, rear compartment all work together for the seats to have the right look, let alone what the outside of the car looks like. imho, no point simplyfying seats but keeping the rest stock. RS look always looks nice with a hard back bucket seat since its a simple look. not a big fan of the seats mentioned after a google search.. but no matter what seat you buy, SIT in it first.. and for more than just 5 minutes in a showroom.

Yea, I plan RS cards, and already have the RS carpet kit to put in. Some seats are hard to find to sit in. I can't see buying seats without first sitting in them.

The Vallelunga look like a version (cheaper) of singer DLS.

bf torinos are pretty light and good looking...also, they only weight around 18 lb (per seat), so you‘ll safe quite a lot of weight compared to the regular seats...

BF Torino Seats

for a more gts vallelunga look and feel maybe these...

Hard to imagine anything better than factory sport seats in an SC for a street car.

I know, I do love these seats. just thinking about the 50lbs I can loose going with something light.

The does not and will never see long trips, I just don't trust it for that.

fwiw, what, if any, safety tests do the GTS seats endure? Pure race seats meet FIA standards for strength and impact.. I presume that factory installed seats are DOT compliant. The twit in the minivan who doesn't see you and crashes into you, doesn't care how cool your seats look, but you might consider how safe they are.

Considering you have a rollbar, I'd be worried about the headrest poles bending/breaking if you had a hard enough impact. I know when I had Recaro sport seats in my SC (the seats were in-period design and age) the rollbar crossbar sat right against those headrest poles.

yea, fwiw, an 80's Porsche is a death box if hit by anything modern, but I get your point.

I like Recaro LS series seats. Supportive, comfortable, period correct and they look terrific.

I can't comment on weight wrt factory sport seats, but the old modular Recaros I just put in my car are lighter than factory comfort seats and fabulously comfortable for me. On Monday I did an 18-hour day in the car discomfort-free.

I’ve been under the impression that the early 80’s manual sport seats like the OP has here, are actually fairly light. Is this not true? I have the late 80’s power versions, which ARE pretty heavy. Supremely comfortable though, so they’ll stay in my car.

They are not super heavy, I pulled them when I put the roll bar in. I may keep them, we'll see. They are very comfortable, have great bolsters and feel great.

The nice thing about the OP's seats is that they are manual (no electric motors) so the weight is kept down and simpler overall. I'd keep them.

I was in the same boat struggling with what would be fitting for my 3.2 that currently is just a spirited road car / autox / occasional track day. I ended up with Recaro Pole Positions, but BF Torino Rally ST still is on the radar. If you were to go Recaro PP, make sure you get the updated 'NG' version (FIA compliance issues if I remember).

Another cool option would be lollipops, but likely $$ and untested in a crash scenario.

Yea, I may keep what I have. I like them, if I can save a lot of weight I might consider it.
