Testing the thermo time switch TTS
This has been beaten ad nauseum, but I'm confused by my data. New TTS ('69E car) from Pelican. On the bench and in the car, there is no continuity between the big and small terminals, and I believe there is supposed to be until the temp rises increasing the resistance and thus making the continuity go away.
Another test on the internet uses a 12V battery and a test light.I"ve tried to attach that procedure here. At any rate, my TTS does seem OK by that test (test light goes on). Can anyone help me sort this out?? (BTW a master Porsche mechanic says the TTS is bad) thanx steve ![]()

TTS testing.......
Steve,
The two (2) terminals for the TTS (thermotime switch) namely G (small) and W (large) terminals should have continuity when cold (below 113°F). And open above 113°F. Double check it using continuity and test light. Tony Last edited by boyt911sc; 09-20-2020 at 08:58 AM.. |

You can figure out which lead the problem is by testing continuity between G and the switch case and W and the switch case.
G should always show continuity to ground (the case). W will show continuity to ground only as long as the switch is <113F. This is academic though. If either circuit is pooched, you'll need a new switch.
