lighting question and PDF of wiring schema
I have a 77 targa (has 83 sc engine) and the fog switch does NOT light up when headlights are on unless I pull the switch and then it lights up. Someone else on the forum said theirs is the same but I want to confirm before I look into fixing or leaving alone...I thought perhaps the blue/white wasn't doing its job but i cant for my life find an electrical schema that includes the optional fog light and my bently isnt very clear... for 83 sc it shoes a blue/white from relay to switch which explains why the switch lights when the circuit is active...but nothing in the diagram shows a headlight on feed unless its from fuse 2 via a gray wire which comes from light switch?
If anyone has a 77 and 83 electrical circuit PDF I would also appreciate getting that sen to me (PM me for email address or attach url in response) Thanks |

Makes it hard to find the switch when its dark out :-)..I may rewire and use as daylight running lights (legal in Canada) and just leave the switch on all the time. I have LED fog lamps so draw is minimal

why not leave the switch on all the time, period -- that way it'd light up when headlights are on (making it easy to find the switch) and wouldn't require any mods/etc.

Because I want the fogs on during the day as daylight running lights, but dont want HLs on

There are threads that show how to rewire the fog lights to do what Porsche did not want. In some places it is illegal to run with just fog lights on. Porsche wired the 914 the same way, fog light only when the headlights are on. They had to make a car that was legal everywhere. They have been that way since the early 1970s at least.
Just search for fog lights and you will find the threads. |
Yes, ive read many threads..but i would still like to get my hands on a good 77 and 83 schema in pdf,
In the meantime, I will spend one evening pulling "gray wires" that appear to trigger the relay which triggers the switch to light up and the fogs to turn on |
Try this for the 77:

Thanks all...downloading started...i moved the gray trigger for the relay to position 6 (from back) which is only hot when ignition is on versus in the accessory position..so now i can turn on lights manually or leave switch on all the time to have DRL's w/o headlights...
thanks all |
