New dash knob...does the plastic sleeve come off??
Have a new dash knob, do you first remove the plastic sleeve, or is it suppose to come off completely before placing the knob on the switch stem.
Thanks

......the "sleeve" that came with the knob appears to be a plastic tube extending from it's base. Is this left on with installation? (Sorry for the moronic question, I have not had to replace a knob on the Porsche before.)
Thanks

The OEM knobs have what is called a "crush" sleeve. To get the shift knob off, put an open-end, or adjustable, wrench under the knob and hammer from underneath to get it off. You may be able to re-use the old sleeve or you can get a new one. Cheers.

Thanks Gunter. This is an OEM packaged Porsche knob. The "tube" I'm looking at I suppose is the sleeve your refering to. It slides right on, can't see how it holds, but it is working.
Thanks again.
