Bosch H1 Question
Hi all,
I have a pair of Bosch 0301811004 headlights, which I've seen many times before, but these have plastic lenses. Anyone know what the story is with this? Thanks, Bob ![]() ![]() |

Afaik H1 were used on longhood SWB 911/912 in the early days prior to 1970/1972. Then Porsche switched to H4 headlights. At least in Germany and EU. On my SC the fog lights are H3 iirc. The lenses were made of glass all the time up to 964 I think. 993 don't know.
H1 had two separated bulbs for low and high beam, H4 a single bulb for both low and high beam. Available again from Bosch, made of glass. Part no. 91163111100 Thomas

My understanding is the H1's were optional on '68S and T's and E's the year after. My question is regarding the plastic lenses. I'm thinking they were aftermarket, but that's just a guess. I'll likely just restore with glass lenses.

Eric at Auto Foreign Service makes beautiful Borosilicate H1s. Perhaps he will sell you a set of lenses (his chromed brass bezels are jewelry as well…
