1982 sc distributor question
Hello,
I am in the process of disassembling my distributor - 0 237 304 016 for cleaning. I have measured the axial movement at .028, which I believe is in excess of specs. I have read that originally there was a fiber washer somewhere that usually disintegrated, resulting in addition axial movement. My question is where was the fiber washer originally located? I need to know so that when I replace it with a brass one now sold by Partsclassic as a replacement, where it goes. In addition, I would like to know any other tips regarding reducing the axial movement to spec - I have looked everywhere and have found numerous distributor parts diagrams but none showing the shim washers. There is zero lateral movement so I am not going to address the 2 brass bushings. Thanks in advance for your help. Dave |

I previously posted this in 83 sc distributor and should help you out. When I rebuilt my 87 Carrera distributor the fiber washer was on top and metal beneath.
