Recapping Recent Little Projects
 

Well, I've done some things to the Porsche recently.

Installed the dashpad I found at the Parts Heaven swap meet last year: 4 hours, windshield left in place, oh why was the prior dash installed with those cursed nylock nuts?

Installed the 930S wheel I got from PP: 30 minutes, left the crest off for a cleaner look, used some neutral shoe polish to get the matte leather to match the dash shine, I can see my instruments fine, and a smaller and thicker rim feels almost like power steering.

Replaced the stock Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cass with a Becker CDR210 AM/FM/CD sourced from a Boxster, bought off eBay and adapter harness sourced from Soutwest Stereo: looks great, sounds very nice (hooked up the OEM underseat amplifier too, for some reason it had been disconnected), now I'm thinking about new speakers . . .

Replaced the Dunlop SP8000s with a set of Bridgestone SO-3s in stock sizes: feels nice but no opportunity to really try them out yet. Also had the tire shop install pressure/temp sensors inside the tires - only external signs are little color-coded rings on the valve stems. They fixed a curb scrape on one wheel too, real nice guys.

Installed the remote display unit for said pressure/temp sensing system on a little aluminium bracket I cut, bent, and fitted to the driver's knee bar: visible through the steering wheel spokes, easy to reach with fingertips, very interesting to drive along and see that the air inside the left rear tire heats up faster than the right rear (catalytic converter?) - the pressure readings match my dial gauge but haven't had a chance to check temp accuracy yet.

Cleaned out the H5s and installed 80/100w bulbs: glad I put in the Sucro relay kit, my headlights work far better than before. Was harder than I'd expected to chip and pry the old bulb holders out.

So, after adding these to the prior projects (hood shocks, lid shocks, turn signal switch, hood crest, relay kit) I'm almost done with my backlog of projects - now to install the door stay reinforcement kit (after seeing the condition of the existing door stay mounting area, I've been handling my driver's door like cut crystal) and then I think I might need to tackle a tune-up - car has started running a bit rough especially when cold, and it's been at least 10K miles since the last tune or valve adjustment. Hmmm, my backlog grows . . .

Thanks everyone! I used this forum to figure out how to do every one of these fix-it things. I wouldn't have bought a 911 without it, and couldn't keep a 911 without it. A lot of nice people here, can't wait for my DE shirt so I can meet some of you in person.
