Passenger tail light help
Been trying to fix this issue
Passenger tail light is blinking in the wrong spot, also has quick blink action from the blinkgaber relay up front, all very dim blinking as well if any after a minute. I figured it was wires in the wrong place so I took apart and can’t seem to get the right spot to blink no matter what hmm?? I Ordered this used housing off a place in California, seems to fit just fine other than the drain plug isn’t in the right spot and this blink issue. 78 911sc |

My god.
I followed the wire color code from someone’s post~must have been different from what I had there before because it blinks heavy and bright now hmm? (I did have to wiggle the bulb.....anyone have more space in the sockets like me...) I switched the wires from the oil tank to the housing as well hmm? I also had an issue with the front blinker...pulled it out, it’s quite corroded since I drive through heavy winters (oyy!) Cleaned that connection a touch and had to wiggle and press it a bit, then the blink noise slowed to normal. Idk if my issue has been purely corrosion and the taillight bulbs take on blinking when the other is restricted hmm?...(I did witness the two left bulbs blink at the same time at once before I dialed it in to work correctly) Pray with me that bumps and driving won’t **** it all up! hahaha |

Your problem sounds like what happens when the ground in the taillight housing is disconnected or very high resistance. This happens to me in my '68 from time to time and I end up having to take the bulb holders out, brush the corrosion off all the spade connectors and the bulb bayonet connectors until everything is shiny again, (don't forget the grounds) and then things work a lot better.
I recently discovered a substance called dielectric grease that you can dab on those connections to repel moisture, and since using that last winter, they seem to be holding up much better, so maybe give that a shot. Good luck with it. |
