A relay has been clicking fast, randomly when I first get into the car.
Removed the clock and speedo to get to the area behind the dashboard and found it is the left hand relay, of a pair behind the clock. Took the relay out to get the pins etc, and the part number - it has: 944.615.112.02 ( and has Fensterheber printed on the top face. Can anyone let me know what this relay is/controls so I can get a replacement one ( - and if a 944 part is suitable if that's all the dealer has in stock ). or - is there a way to repair 'clicking' relays - re/more soldering etc? THanks ![]() |

Fensterheber, translates to Window Lifter, what stops functioning when you take it out?
If it controls your windows and it's the left one then does your passenger window stop functioning when you remove it? Have you tried swapping the two if they are identical? If you swap them does the (formerly) right one now start randomly clicking or does the the original left one still randomly click? If the clicking does not move position with the relay then look at faulty connections on the window switch, if the clicking moves with the relay then replace the relay. Scott

Scott,
pulled the clicking relay and it controls both windows - so no identical one to swap it with. The clicking is pretty erratic - just seems to be on first opening the doors, say 1st drive in the morning - then after a journey, on start up again no clicking. - think engine noise woudl mask the noise when driving. Was surprised by the 944 part No. Will look at the switches and connections behind the door cards. ![]() |

Get the feeling that if it is erratic it's more than likely a short or connection issue.
Find out the price of the relay before you pull the doors apart. If it's a couple o quid it might be cheaper to replace it than go through the hassle of opening the doors. If the clicking stops great, if not you still need to pull the doors apart. All depends on the price of the relay. Good luck, Scott
