New Product: Deltamax Ignition Control Unit

Hi Guys

This product has begun to turn up in a few Aussie magazines etc...

http://www.delta-digital.com.au/

Go to Deltamax prompt

Have a look and tell me if you think this could be a viable alternative to MSD et al

It is certainly cheap enough at $300 Australian ($180 USD).

Cheers

Not much info on the website :( Sounds interesting though.

Looks like it mights control the advance curve. Could be pretty cool. Depends on the sensors it takes, I suspect.

It looks cool....but not much info. Seems like you plot the cuve with a PC. That's good! But I wonder how finite the increments are? And the price, at todays exchange rate is sweeeet! Less than an MSD 6. $330 Aus+$200+ US.

Does it also do the job of a coil? Or is that required?

As a guy with an older 911, I would be a prime customer. Would I lock my dist to eliminate the curve? Will it take the output of a Crane optical sensor?

And I'll need a pretty long download cable, as I have no laptop!

Based on size, I'd be pretty suprised if it did the capacitive discharge aspect of the CDI.

It would be extra cool if there was a way of adjusting the advance at different load points (even just thottle position).

Jake, you're thinking like me. I currently run a Crane XR700 and coil, but the idea of being able to map out my entire rev range is appealing. I locked my advance some time ago and simply run 36 degrees total. I like the idea of dual mapping for *****ty fuel, but with the flick of a switch I can run something else. As Cam points out, I get the impression that you supply the coil.

I'm not ready to buy at the moment which is why I'm not sending off emails to the company. I just posted it 'cause it might suit some older car owners on the board.
