Homemade 911 Chassis Cart
Taking inspiration from various threads on here and other car forums, I wanted a cart that was inexpensive to build, stable and allowed good access to the undercarriage.
I used 1.5" .100 HSS and 1/4" plate for the caster pads and the mounting tabs. I didn't like the idea of the tub just resting on the torsion tube and the front pan, so I set it up so that the cart bolts to the transmission crossmember mount in the rear and to the swaybar mount up front. This will allow me to reinstall the front and rear suspension with the car supported. The tub is also high enough to reinstall engine and transmission. Altogether cost was less than $200 including 4 swivel locking casters. Happy to provide dimensions to anyone interested. |
