speedster kit on Ebay

There is a listing on Ebay for afactory speedster kit. Kit includes windshield, top, hump, doors w/glass and Rs door panels. The listing doesn't state whether the parts are new or used only that they don't guarantee color. Do the parts really cost that much?

I am assuming you are talking about the Ebay listing for the 1994 Speedster conversion kit for $18,499. Yes, 911 Speedster parts are silly expensive. The seller is a LA Porsche Dismantlers so the parts are definitely used. New parts from the dealer would be approximately $6,000 bubble and components, $10,500 top and frame assembly, $6,000 windshield and frame, $2,000 door windows and regulators. Although every time I look at dealer costs for parts they seem to be higher. The bigger problem for prices is that many of the 911 Speedster parts from the factory are becoming “no longer available” (e.g. '89 Speedster windshield and frame) and places like LA Porsche Dismantlers increasingly want to get top dollars for the parts. A few years ago costs for full conversions including parts and install ran between $25,000 (anzianos.com) using all factory parts to $15,000 (extrememotorcars.com) using a mix of factory/aftermarket parts. I have also seen a full Speedster conversion on a 911SC that the owner only got $13,000 (ouch!) when he later sold the car. The great thing about a Speedster conversion is you have a different look with car parts that are still 100% Porsche.

Sorry for reviving an older thread.

Shawn (or anyone that has any ideas)-

Was your slant speedster conversion window frame a custom job, or is it a true porsche part?

Do you know if there is anyone that makes an aftermarket 911 speedster style windscreen? Or if there is another vehicles windscreen that could mimic the dimensions? It seems that there has to be a more inexpensive option.

I have a wide body convertible sitting in my driveway that could be an easy conversion, I'm willing to experiment:

- I have a couple of clamshells
- I would like to fabricate an emergency type top that stores under the clam, but mainly use as a fair weather ride.
- I would like to find an alternate windscreen to the porsche

Thanks in advance..

Btw...there is a full speedster ensemble for $20k on ebay .

Looking at the frame, it seems that this wouldn't be an incredibly difficult part to create.

Hi Matt, I have an '89 factory speedster windshield and frame that bolted easily onto my '79 targa body. I have only seen aftermarket 911 speedster replacement windshield glass and clamshells. I have never seen aftermarket parts for the windshield frame, convertible top mechanism, and side door glass.

I am sure someone could fabricate something for a windshield that has the speedster look for you. I wish someone would make a complete aftermarket kit as there would be plenty of profit as you have recently seen the factory parts are selling for $20,000 on ebay.

Time to revive this post again.
wishing I could come across a windshield frame with or without glass ( damaged frame would be fine) as I have a soft top and Factory top frame.
What I really Would like to do is remanufacture the top frame using my Factory top as a template.
I would also like to copy and remake the windshield frame also but the only problem is I need to buy, borrow / partnership with someone the has the missing piece of the puzzle, “the windshield frame”. If found, I could copy and remanufacture them as I believe that aftermarket windshields are still available which would help keep conversions cost down.
Feel free to give me a call if you guys know of anyone that can help me with a windshield frame. (808)357-7422.
I may even consider starting a Gofumd me page if there are enough people that would like to see It brought to market as a complete conversion kit for a reasonable price.
This way, all of us in the Porsche community, that would Like to afford one could afford one without making us feel like we were out of our minds for building one 🤣🤣😆

Thanks for your time

Russ

I'd be intersted in a conversion kit, all included. Have the cabrio ready for such a conversion.

You need the cowl assembly too. The curvature is different and the securing bolts go in through sleeves welded into the A pillars.
I made a speedster from a 73 targa 20 years ago, but I converted the cowl, etc. lots of work. Converted the doors as well. Parts were still available back them.
