Cannot locate this part To purchase
There is a short vent that runs from the Trunk, at the firewall in front of the glove box and runs down to the footwell inside the car. You can see the opening behind the unattached hose from the blower. Each end of the open hole vent should have plastic caps to close each end. I saw that both ends had caps that had deteriorated. I am looking to purchase those caps. Anyone know the part numbers? Anyone know the purpose of this vent /tunnel? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601952312.jpg

The welded in tubes are for running air from the AC and/or fresh air blower to the tiny side vents at the ends of the dash in SC and 84-85 Carreras.
In my 85 the right one was capped since the vent is fed from under the dash; the cap on the interior end is circled in the image below, above the footwell blower. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601956533.jpg A part of my AC upgrade this summer, I needed to block off the small outlets on the footwell blowers (same size). Couldn't find a part number in the PET. Scoured hardware stores to find an equivalent, but no joy. I came up with this (showing the left footwell blower). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601954957.jpg Source: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601955183.jpg Hard push to get them on. They seem to do the trick, and look OK, if not exactly OEM. It is getting cold now, so we will see how they hold up. Should be OK for just capping the welded-in tubes. --Dave |
