Oil pressure switch?

What mm socket is the oil pressure swith on a 1976 911 2.7liter. Does anyone have a tip for keeping the oil switch in the socket when installing.

Which oil pressure switch (sending unit) are you replacing. The one for the gauge or the one for the idiot light? The idiot light is on top of the engine behind all the fuel injection stuff ( a partial engine drop may be require to gain access to the sending unit or you can remove the fueling jection system). The one for the gauge is in front of the engine, no problem accessing this unit.

If you are going to remove and replace the sending unit, just buy the unit and fit a socket or wrench to it to determine the size. I wouldn't go through all this trouble to remove the idiot light sending unit just to reinstall the old sending unit.

I believe you need a 24 mm socket or wrench. As far as keeping it in the socket I am assuming you are not able to start the tread with your fingers due to clearance problems.? You could use a 15/16" socket which is barely smaller for a tighter fit on the switch or put a lttle electrical tape around the hex of the switch for friction. Good luck. And make sure the aluminum sealing washer is on your new switch.
