MFI throttle bodies - idle unadjustable

Ok. My mechanic went through the check, measure and adjust several times and has given up on being able to adjust my MFI so that it runs correctly (he isn't a top dollar Porsche wrench but he has alot of experience with 911s and has done MFI adjustments before). In trying to fix a cylinder that was consistently popping at idle and a perpetual high idle, he made all of the adjustments according to the book, replaced the t-body and intake gaskets and cleaned everything thoroughly. Still, at the end of the day, the idle is too high (1500) and unadjustable and we are mystified. When you close the butterflies completely, you can still see daylight all of the way around. Shouldn't these seal air tight so that the air bypass screw can meter the air going in around the butterflies? Sounds like a sure diagnosis that the t-bodies need to be rebushed and rebuilt but I wanted to get some more feedback before I ship them off.

Rich,
that's what it sounds like and that's what it looked like in those pictures.

If you can see light, you need a rebuild. Check out the pics at Matt's new site, mine looked exactly like that after he did them. #5 on my car was popping all of the time and wouldnt adjust. The plate had rattled back and forth, like yours are, and made a groove. It has been a year since he did them and i checked them recently and they are perfect. It isn't cheap, but what is?

I'll second Matt Blast of Eurometrix. Here is what I just received back for our 2.2L 911S. Excellent work. Unfortunately the Postal Service hasn't delivered (possibly lost) the refurbished stacks and cross piece yet or I would show you those.
